Howley Hall offers the opportunity to develop your own high profile golf professional service business within a prestigious and supportive golf club.
Howley Hall Golf Club is a well-established private members’ club in West Yorkshire with a proud history, an excellent golf course and ambitious plans for the future. We seek a forward thinking, commercially minded and highly personable PGA Head Golf Professional to play a central role in the next stage of the club’s development.
This is a broad and influential role requiring more than the traditional delivery of professional shop and coaching services. The successful candidate will be highly visible around the club and will work closely with the Club Manager/Secretary, Board and wider team to support membership growth, increase commercial revenues and enhance Howley Hall’s reputation.
With over 600 playing members and outstanding practice facilities, including a dedicated simulator room, Howley Hall offers a platform for the successful candidate to establish, develop and grow a successful coaching business. With a strong membership base and excellent facilities, there is significant potential to build and maximise coaching revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Professional Shop
Lead and develop your professional shop operation, delivering exceptional retail services, club fitting and product demonstrations while building strong supplier relationships and supporting demo days, fitting events and promotions.
Golf Operations
Working in collaboration with the club manage and support a high-quality programme of club competitions, open events and golfing activities, providing professional advice to members and visitors while ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of golf services.
Coaching and Participation
Deliver engaging, high-quality coaching for golfers of all ages and abilities, growing participation programmes and maximising the club’s practice facilities to create new coaching opportunities
Member & Visitor experience
Deliver an exceptional member and visitor experience, building strong relationships and representing Howley Hall professionally at club events, corporate days and society visits.
Commercial & Marketing
Support the club’s ambition for commercial growth by working collaboratively across existing club activities, developing new revenue opportunities, and supporting the delivery of effective marketing and digital promotions.
About you
The successful candidate is likely to have Full PGA qualification and current PGA membership and demonstrate:
• Experience in a professional or assistant professional role within a successful golf club environment.
• Strong retail, commercial and business development skills, supported by a proactive approach to marketing, events and revenue generation.
• A proven ability to deliver high quality coaching to golfers of different ages and abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a visible, approachable and member focused style.
• The ability to build relationships with members, visitors, colleagues, suppliers and external partners.
• Strong organisational skills and experience supporting competitions and golf operations.
• A willingness to work flexibly, including weekends, competition days and other key club events.
• Appropriate safeguarding qualifications and willingness to undertake any required background checks.
We are looking for a Head Professional to be an active and positive presence at the club, understanding traditions but also sharing our ambition to develop, grow and provide an outstanding experience for members and visitors.
Operating from within club premises, the precise commercial arrangement and remuneration package will reflect the responsibilities of the position and the experience and business proposal of the successful applicant.
